The Vicenza Course on AKI-CRRT and EBPT is a classic event in the field of Critical Care Nephrology now reaching the 44th edition. This course is well known to allow beginners and experts to meet and exchange information both during formal presentations but also through informal networking and personal conversations.  The course represents a recapitulation of the recent advances in the world literature in the area of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), extracorporeal therapies including CRRT and ECOS and ultimately a mix of basic principles and new experimental findings. In AKI, world renown experts will discuss the epidemiology, risk factors, pathophysiology, progression to AKD and CKD, recovery pathways, mechanism of injury, prevention and diagnosis through biomarkers. Mitigation and actionable prevention strategies in different settings such as cardiac surgery, intensive care unit, cardiology and nephrology will also be matter of discussion. In the area of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies (CRRT) the qualified international faculty will present indications, timing modalities, prescription and delivery, monitoring and quality control, different techniques and clinical results. Special emphasis will be given to management of AKI, Sepsis, Fluid overload and AKI in particular conditions such as oncology, cardiology and cardiac surgery, trauma and sepsis, septic shock. New membranes, machines and sorbents will offer the opportunity to discuss Extracorporeal Organ Support by different techniques enabling management of patients with AKI, sepsis, acute liver failure, acute decompensated heart failure and respiratory failure. Together with new devices, new drugs and recent pharmacological trials in the field will be included in the main program.

A series of lectures and panel discussions will be delivered during the days of the course. The program will be integrated by special industry sponsored symposia, meet the expert sessions and quick Cappuccino-like short presentations. A special point-of- care ultrasound course will be available during the conference for beginners and advanced users. Our scope is to put together specialists from different disciplines in a single scientific event with a multidisciplinary approach to the critically ill patient with acute kidney injury and multiple organ dysfunction.
